With elections just around the corner, trade has become one of the foremost concerns of the US public and its politicians. Meanwhile, Congress is still considering a NAFTA-style free trade agreement with war-torn Colombia--an agreement resolutely condemned by Colombian civil society. With US elections and the fate of this trade pact hanging in the balance, now is the time to hear those Colombian voices.

In October Freddy Caicedo, a Colombian human rights organizer, will tour the Mid-Atlantic to offer an insider's look at the Colombia Free Trade Agreement. Armed with compelling stories from Colombia's labor unionists, indigenous groups, and Afro-Colombians, Freddy will clearly convey the threat that the agreement poses. Using pictures and firsthand expertise, he will recount his community's relentless efforts against the agreement and for a just peace in Colombia. Freddy brings with him a degree in economics and years of experience as a community leader and educator.
